If you thought tightrope walking was impressive, think again. Jaan Roose is an Estonian slacklining sensation that took the sport to a whole new level by crossing continents.
On Monday, September 15, he became the first person to balance on a slackline stretched over the Bosphorus Strait, walking from the Asian side of Istanbul to the European side.
With a breathtaking 1,074-metre slackline hanging 165 metres above the water, Roose showcased his incredible balance and nerves of steel.
He completed this epic journey in just 47 minutes, all while battling 21 km/h winds and a warm 23°C. Who knew crossing continents could be so breezy?
This daring feat, dubbed the “Continental Pass,” wasn’t just about showing off skills, it highlighted the rich history and stunning beauty of the Bosphorus.
“This location combines thousands of years of history, cultural importance, and breathtaking natural beauty. It was a unique experience that I’ll never forget,” Roose shared.
Roose isn’t just about crossing lines, he’s breaking records, too. He is the only person in the world to land a double backflip on a slackline because why not add a little flair?
His past feats include the dazzling “Sparkline” challenge in Qatar, where he walked a glowing slackline between two skyscrapers.
And let’s not overlook his winter adventure across Estonia’s Valaste waterfall, where he zoomed at speeds of 22 km/h while bundled up in five layers of socks. Talk about a chilly thrill!
In July, Roose took his daring exploits even further by walking a 3,646-meter slackline across the Messina Strait. While he didn’t officially set a record due to a last-minute fall, he certainly made history by conquering the longest slackline ever constructed. This guy is seriously raising the bar.
As if slacklining across continents was not enough, Roose’s journey took place over the Bosphorus Strait, a waterway that has shaped Istanbul’s history for centuries.
Linking Europe and Asia, its vibrant blue waters have witnessed empires rise and fall. So, as Roose walked that line, he was also stepping into a rich tapestry of culture and history.
With a resume that reads like an adventure movie, the world can’t wait to see what Jaan Roose will tackle next.
One thing’s for sure, this slacklining superstar is ready to defy gravity and expectations, one daring stunt at a time!
