Johannesburg - Sun City’s family-orientated, three-star Cabanas hotel is undergoing a dramatic refurbishment which includes an upgrade of the guest rooms, reception area and restaurant.
This is the first major refurbishment of the hotel since 2007 when the rooms were restyled to mark the hotel’s 25th anniversary. The refurbishment started in January 2015 and is scheduled for completion towards the end of November 2015.
The entrance and reception area are currently being remodelled for a more contemporary and modern feel, while still reflecting the hotel’s friendly character. The reception area is spacious with a balconied foyer overlooking the hotel’s restaurant which is in the process of being remodelled. Guests can also look forward to a rejuvenated restaurant with a fresh and modern interior.
All 380 of the hotel’s guest rooms are being revitalised. The refreshed guest rooms will reflect the crisp, clean and laid-back ambience of the Cabanas hotel. Guests will still be able to choose between standard and family rooms at the Cabanas, all of which are fully air-conditioned and equipped with quality flat screen TV’s with select DSTV channels, Wifi, tea and coffee making facilities and electronic safes and telephones. The rooms include a mini refrigerator, which is ideal for storing baby bottles, milk and beverages. As a standard Cabanas rooms will offer an en-suite-shower, whilst the family rooms feature a full bathroom.
The refurbishment of the Cabanas hotel is part of an ambitious upgrade project currently being rolled out across the Sun City Resort. The upgrade is to extend Sun City’s facilities and offer more diverse and cosmopolitan choices for guests visiting the resort. The revitalisation of Sun City’s food and beverage offering has already commenced, with some of the restaurants already closed for refurbishment. The upgrade project which is being rolled out in phases will ensure Sun City Resort remains a preferred leisure destination for both local and international tourists.
“The Cabanas hotel is known for its warm hospitality and family-focused offering. Guests will continue to get the same, delightful and satisfying experience when they visit our hotel, in a modern and rejuvenated setting,” says The Cabanas’ general manager, Ntebi Mathope.
The Cabanas opened during 1980, offering families a new dimension in hotel accommodation at the thriving Sun City resort. The Cabanas overlooks the picturesque lakeside with direct access to the abundant tropical gardens, which provide a lush backdrop for the exotic birds that inhabit it. Elegant peacocks can often be spotted vainly preening before the glass doors leading to your accommodation.
With a focus on family, the hotel offers a range of activities for all ages, including sparkling pools, fully-supervised workshops for children at Kamp Kwena, an adventure playground, animal farmyard and fully equipped play centre. Also based at the Cabanas is Waterworld which offers jet skiing, Parasailing, water-skiing and a lakeside café.
