As South Africans continue to embrace Heritage Month with different activations, award-winning musician Makhadzi has shared a new music offering titled “We Are One”, shining a spotlight on unity.

With this vibrant song she calls on her music fans to immerse themselves in the message of togetherness and compassion.

The performer explained on social media that they were motivated to release more upbeat music after the tremendous success of their joint project, “Jealous Down”, featuring Dr Skarothat.

“Aa wehh! Happy Heritage Day! In celebration of this special occasion, I’m excited to share my new single, ‘We Are One’, from my upcoming album, ‘Miracle Child’. Following our successful collaboration on ‘Jealous Down’ with Dr Skaro, we felt inspired to bring you more uplifting music. ‘We Are One’ is an anthem of love and unity, reminding us that we are all connected, regardless of our cultures and beliefs.

“It encourages us to treat one another with respect and to rise above tribalism. As you listen, I invite you to embrace the message of togetherness and compassion. Please help spread this song far and wide — let’s make it a powerful movement for awareness and love. One love,” said Makhadzi.

The “Ghanama” hitmaker has been on a winning streak in her career, having recently claimed Dance Artist of the Year and the International Achievement Award at the Basadi In Music Awards.

In August, she was among a list of women that were spotlighted and honoured by The Official Music Charts for dedication to their craft.

From taxi ranks to taking over global stages, Makhadzi’s journey has been a beacon of light, proving that with determination and hard work, dreams become a reality.

Her numerous award victories, including SAMA, Metro FM Music, Mzansi Viewers’ Choice, Nickelodeon Kids Choice, and AFRIMA trophies, are a testament to her hard work.

Her most recent win, the 2024 BET Award for Viewers’ Choice: Best New International Act, is another evidence of her influence around the world.

Last year, she was also recognised as Spotify EQUAL Ambassador for September, a platform that amplifies the voices of African female artists.

Her succeeding endeavours, “Kokovha” and “African Queen”, cemented her artistic reputation, but it was her album “Matorokisi” that catapulted her into national stardom.
