DURBAN – AmaZulu are not fazed by Cape Town City’s ability to do well in knockout competitions. Usuthu will face the Citizens at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi tomorrow at 7.30pm.
City are only into their third year of existence but they have already built themselves a reputation as cup specialists. Back In 2016 they went all the way and lifted the Telkom Knockout, beating SuperSport United 2-1 in the final. City were MTN8 runners up last season as they succumbed to SuperSport on penalties.
The Capetonians have already won the MTN8 this season, incredibly beating the self same SuperSport.
Yet all that does not scare AmaZulu with their defender, Sedat Auro-Okoriko confident they will shoot City down.
“It doesn’t matter whether they are cup specialists or not. We are all PSL teams. We all want to win this cup. We have an advantage since we are playing at home,” Okoriko said.
Usuthu defeated City in the last game of the season last term at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.
“It is going to be the same. We are playing at home. There’s no one who is going to come here and beat us,” he added.

AmaZulu are yet to lose at home. They have beaten Baroka and Free State Stars and drew with Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United in their home matches in the league this season.
“We are all brimming with the same confidence that I’m talking with. We are ready for this game. We will beat them for sure,” Okoriko explained.
Usuthu are playing with finesse in their home matches. They have only failed to score once in their own territory.
“We don’t want to lose our home games. If we can’t win at home at least we must work hard to get a draw. That will take us far,” Okoriko elaborated.
Usuthu were dealt a major blow as they were docked six points.
“We’ve forgotten about the six points that were docked from us. We are glad that this happened so early in the season. We will work hard to get as many points as possible. We are last on the log but it doesn’t matter, we will bounce back. We will work hard,” he concluded.
