Donovan Ferreira of the Joburg Super Kings was named the 12th man.
The league commended Rickelton and Brevis for their daring batting skills, which resulted in heavily spiked strike rates, while the Cape Town keeper racked up the most runs in the tournament.
“Rickelton struck 336 runs at an average of 48 and strike-rate 178.82 to pass 1000 runs in the competition, becoming the leading run-scorer in Betway SA20 history. He also claimed nine dismissals behind the stumps.
“Rising Star Brevis came of age in Season 3, scoring 291 runs at an average of 48.5 and strike-rate of 184. The 21-year-old was equally adept against pace and spin, striking at 211 against the seamers and 149 against a list of highly impressive slow bowlers.
From a bowling perspective, Boult, Rabada and Linde were widely received for their lethal line and length, even more so for upping the ante towards the end of the tournament.
Linde and Boult took 11 wickets during the third season while Rabada picked up 12 with a best of 4/25 in the final match.
“MI Cape Town’s world-class new bowling pair of Rabada and Boult were miserly throughout the competition - boasting economy rates of 6.53 and 6.94 respectively - but kept their best performance for the Final against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.”
All the above mentioned aside, and all praise to the might and dominance from MI Cape Town, the batting performance of the tournament belonged to an 18-year-old lefty Pretorius.
Pretorius took apart the world’s best T20 bowlers with an unassuming ease and confidence, which saw scoop the batter of the tournament award with his 397 runs.
He scored three half-centuries, riddled with 47 boundaries and 16 explosive sixes.
