AB de Villiers’ sparkling innings in the Mzansi Super League over the past weekend has catapulted him to a multi-million rand Pakistan Super League deal.

Despite retiring from international cricket back in May, De Villiers showed that he has lost none of his mercurial touch, and in fact “is hitting the ball better than ever” in his knocks of 59 and 32 for the Tshwane Spartans on Friday and Sunday respectively.

With the PSL player draft happening on Tuesday, the Lahore Qalandars wasted no time in purchasing the former Proteas skipper.

De Villiers is expected to pocket anywhere between $140 000 (R1.97 million) and $200 000 (R2.81 million), according to figures provided on the Pakistan Super League website.

The Qalandars have finished last in all three seasons of the PSL thus far, and will be hoping the 34-year-old can change their team’s fortunes.

In contrast, Proteas batsman JP Duminy led Islamabad United to the PSL title last season.

The PSL will take place from February 14 to March 17, 2019.
