Johannesburg - This week we feature South African musician, actor , voice artist and MC Bongi Archi.
The 33 year old is best known for being a finalist on popular reality music show M-Net's Idols.
He is also well known as a current Joyous Celebration featured artist and Ignite performer.
Archi, who was previously known as Bongi Mthombeni , also released his debut single, Excuse Me, this week.
As an actor , he’s also featured in various theatre productions including Summer of Love Show, the Cinderella Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, as well as Die Sanger.
You are able to choose any three musicians in the world to perform in front of. Who do you choose and why?
Bruno Mars – I just wanna share a stage with this guy. His productions are crazy. His style influences my style 60%.
John Legend – Many say I have got a bit of his tone when I sing, so I would like him to listen and hopefully be interested in sharing his way of thinking and musical approaches when in studio.
Ed Sheeran – Hoping that he would write a few songs for me because he is an amazing songwriter and I am a fan of his love songs.
Your favourite Idols SA judge is … ?
Mara Louw and Gareth Cliff during their time on the show. They believed in me so much and even after my involvement in Idols SA, they still kept in touch and motivated me and said I should not let the show determine my gift. I should think bigger and aim higher.
Your most embarrassing moment on stage was … ?
When my keyboard fell while I was doing a piano solo in a stadium.
What is the one thing that has caught your attention on social media in the past week?
The exciting response to my debut single that I’ve just released. I feel very humbled.
What's your view on taking the knee?
I’m a rainbow nation artist and feel that all lives matter. I would take the knee for any life.
You are invited to perform for President Cyril Ramaphosa at a party of his. What song do you choose to sing?
Jerusalema. That is his favourite song. But I would play it in a different style and mash it up with Lean on Me.
What is the most adventurous thing you've eaten in your life?
An octopus. It was extremely slimy...
Your celebrity crush growing up was … ?
Rihanna did it for me. No question.
The proudest moment of your career so far is … ?
There are so many. My first theatre production as Prince Charming. Going to the USA for the first time in my life to perform for Disney. My debut single Excuse Me that’s just been released and already getting playlisted on radio.
You win the lottery. You have R100 million to spend. What are the first three things you buy?
Shares in different companies, a massive building that has a massive recording studio, that provides music classes and lessons and drama, as well as visual production. It’s important for me to give back where I can.
