Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Matome Chiloane, is expected to release the independent investigative report concerning Pretoria High School for Girls on Monday.

The investigation comes after black learners reported that the white girls had set up a WhatsApp group chat to discuss them.

Learners further alleged that the school's principal and management system did not take any action despite complaints lodged against some learners. They further claimed that white learners were receiving preferential treatment from teachers.

The concerns were shared with the Department of Education in Gauteng and an investigation was launched. Twelve learners were also suspended in July, however the learners were found not guilty in a disciplinary hearing in August.

Despite this, the department forged ahead with an independent investigation.

AfriForum condemned the department’s decision adding that it undermines the school’s governing body.

"Learners who had been accused, had been found not guilty during a disciplinary hearing. These events have illustrated once more that some education authorities have an agenda against school governing bodies," said AfriForum's Alana Bailey.

The MEC is expected to release the findings at a briefing at the school on Monday.
