Mix a little Mad Max with a touch of the Terminator, throw in some Dakar dust 'n dirt, and you've got the Renault Duster Détour, a spectacular show car based on the Duster SUV that was launched in South Africa in mid-September.
And not only was it designed with South African input but it will be making its global debut at the Johannesburg International Motor Show next Wednesday (16 October). The accompanying teaser image is all we have to work with for now, but it sure hints at some serious design bling.
Renault Design Central Europe director Geoffrey Gardiner said: “We've had enormous fun putting together the key design equipment and eye-catching elements that make up the Détour.”
VIBRANT COLOURS
The concept, finished in pearl yellow and matt grey, is the result of a joint effort by Renault Design Central Europe and a specialised South African design studio based in Johannesburg.
We’ll bring you the first proper images of the Détour next Wednesday and, of course, you’ll be able to check it out for yourself on the Renault stand as it opens to the public between 18 and 27 October at the Expo Centre, Nasrec.
