Mahindra is launching yet another SUV attack in South Africa with its compact Quanto. Despite measuring just under four metres in length, the Quanto claims to offer ample space in its five-seat cabin.
One thing that's not so compact is the engine - here we have a 2.2-litre mHawk turbodiesel mill that's credited with 98kW and 290Nm. Average fuel consumption amounts to 7.6 litres per 100km, according to Mahindra.
Initially it'll be offered in rear-wheel drive guise only, although the company is planning to introduce a 4x4 version at some point. Yet even the 4x2 version should offer some decent dirt-roading ability with its 200mm of ground clearance.
The Quanto is priced at R199 900 and comes with air conditioning, a 2 DIN MP3/CD audio system, keyless entry, central locking, 15-inch alloy wheels and dual front airbags.
It'll be available through Mahindra's local network of 60 dealers.
