Reebok, in collaboration with the late South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’s brand, recently launched a tribute sneaker collection.

Titled “SneAKA 2.0”, this new range is a celebration of the musician’s legacy and his impact on the fashion industry as one of the most celebrated sneakerheads.

The SneAKA 2.0 had the Megacy queuing as soon as it went on sale.

Since sales opened, fans from across the globe have been trying to get their hands on a pair online.

Here in SA, the Megacy queued outside selected Reebok stores in malls for hours, waiting for the doors to open.

Two days later, most sizes have been sold out due to the high demand. Now, fans are pleading with Reebok to release more.

@cigarbossanova wrote: “Reebok I’m disappointed in you, you know aka had fans all over the world this show was not available in lots of places I wanted these so bad.”

@jerebean_last_prince said: “🔥🔥🔥 finally got the flag on. Straight heat. Mass produce them for the whole (of) Africa.”

While diehard fans couldn’t get their limited edition sneakers, Super Mega’s industry friends and family have managed to secure their pairs.

AKA’s team posted on X, “2019 || 2024 Long Live SUPA MEGA Live Long 💜♾.”

One of the pictures accompanying the post showed numerous boxes of the “SneAKA 2.0” with sticky notes marked with industry A-listers names.

AKA’s girlfriend Nadia Nakai, Springbok rugby captain Siya Kolisi, actress Pearl Thusi and rapper Da Les have purchased a pair.

Don Design, Lalla Hirayama, Moozlie, JR, Riky Rick, Fikile Mbalula, K Naomi Phakathi and Stephan Forbes’s names were also secured on boxes.

Meanwhile, Channel O has announced that they will be dropping a documentary following the successful “SneAKA 2.0” launch.

On Instagram, the channel posted: “What a successful launch! 🤩🇿🇦 We know Ⓜ️ega is happy. 🇿🇦🙌🏾 Stay tuned for the documentary drop! 😎📺✨.”
