One of Mzansi's best-dressed stylists Seth Shezi not only knows his way around the wardrobe but the kitchen, too.
The Cape Town-based creative reigned victorious in the six-part “Celebrity MasterChef South Africa” series, beating Dineo Ranaka.
“Celebrity MasterChef” is a show where celebs show off their culinary skills with the aim of winning and giving back to the community.
Besides the coveted title, Shezi walked away with a delicious R1 million in prize money, of which R500,000 plus the R20,000 he won in a previous episode will go to the charity he put his heart on a plate for.
Shezi impressed the judges with his dishes which included “smoked tuna crudo with avocado and amasi whey emulsion”, a symphony of flavours perfectly composed for a trip from Cape Town to Venice and “pineapple flambé with disaronno, masala avocado and chocolate mousse” for dessert.
For him, winning this cooking contest has been a life-changing experience.
“Now my life has changed. I have no words. It’s wild. It’s been more than just a cooking competition.
“When you work within the food world and love and respect it so much, you sometimes have to be a judge and a critic, and sometimes you wonder how much you actually know. Now it feels like I do know. And it’s a good feeling,” he said.
“This journey has taught me not only the art of cooking but also the power of perseverance and creativity.
“I’m grateful to my fellow contestants and everyone involved in the production because this win is a testament to the passion we all share for food, dreaming and the memories it creates.”
His colleagues in the creative industry congratulated him not only for winning but also for showcasing his hidden talent.
“OMG, massive congratulations @seth_shezi! Time to update the bio,” said fashion stylist, Aki Curtis.
Another stylist Daniel Horvath added: “OMG!! So I know someone famous now. Congrats @seth_shezi.”
Shezi will donate some of his prize money to Ladles of Love, an NGO providing healthy meals to thousands of vulnerable children and destitute South Africans.
