Award-winning amapiano queen Sha Sha has finally re-entered the industry with the drop of her highly-anticipated summer banger, “Ndawana”.
The song is Sha Sha’s first major single since her 2022 album, “I’m Alive”, and features acclaimed DJ Kelvin Momo and rising star Sykes.
It’s a catchy and upbeat love song that skilfully combines the essence of amapiano with a modern, international flavour.
“It encapsulates the warmth and euphoria of summer. Sha Sha sings in her mother tongue, Shona to create a deep connection with the Zimbabwean diaspora across the globe.
“This song celebrates the universal theme of love and takes listeners on a journey through its many forms, whether romantic, familial, or divine,” read a statement.
The collaboration between the three powerhouse musicians has resulted in a musical synergy that makes “Ndawana” stand out as a refreshing summer anthem.
The song brought Sha Sha and Momo together in the studio for the first time.
She said: “What makes this song different is that I haven’t worked with Kelvin Momo before. It allowed me to tap into places I hadn’t explored in a while.
“It’s part of my constant evolution as an artist, and I believe it feels more mature and grown. It speaks to my journey, the work I’ve been doing on myself, and where I’m at right now.”
She added: “Meeting Sykes at the studio was unexpected, but it added so much value to the song. We clicked instantly, and our chemistry was incredible. It was one of those moments where everything just fell into place.”
Through the song, Sha Sha hopes to convey the message of “real and powerful love”.
“It’s not just about romantic love, it’s about all the variations of love that exist in our lives. I hope people feel that when they listen to this song.”
Fans can look forward to more music and live performances in the coming months, culminating in Sha Sha’s highly anticipated album release next year.
