South African music star Tyla is set to feature on BLACKPINK member Lisa's highly anticipated debut album, “Alter Ego”.

This collaboration has ignited excitement among fans from both sides, promising a vibrant blend of K-pop and Afrobeats that could reshape the contours of contemporary pop music.

Tyla's inclusion on the album exemplifies her rapid ascent within the music industry and showcases the increasing recognition of African artists on global platforms.

The announcement has led to a flurry of reactions online, with fans expressing their enthusiasm.

One user exclaimed: “Finally, Tyla is showing up,” while another added: “This is so cool.”

A third fan optimistically stated: “This is insane. ‘Alter Ego’ ready to break the world.”

Lisa is set to release “Alter Ego” on Friday, February 28, marking her first full-length solo project since she and the rest of BLACKPINK opted not to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment.

The album's tracklist includes collaborations with prominent artists like Megan Thee Stallion on “Rapunzel” and Future on “Fxck Up The World”, alongside Tyla on “When I’m With You”.

The potential for this collaboration could have been foretold when the two artists engaged in a heartfelt discussion during Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” series last year.

Sharing their experiences and cultural backgrounds, they celebrated their mutual friendship and artistic drive.

Tyla expressed her admiration on their first meeting, “I didn't know what to expect. You were literally so sweet. It was so cute.”

Throughout their conversation, Tyla invited Lisa to SA, promising to treat her to a traditional braai, describing it as “like a barbecue with a bunch of different foods, very flavourful.”

Tyla also shared her enthusiasm for K-pop, stating, “I love the videos, the dances, the fan bases, and how invested people are in K-pop. The music, the videos … it's like its own world.

“I find it so cool that in K-pop, you can bring people into a world that doesn’t feel real. That’s so cool. It’s very inspiring for me as well.”

The anticipation for “Alter Ego” is intense, with millions of fans worldwide eagerly counting down to its release.

Lisa has captivated audiences not only with her extraordinary dancing and charismatic performances but also with her ability to connect with fans through compelling music.

Tyla’s growing influence within the industry and her collaboration with a global icon like Lisa highlight her impressive talent and the evolving dynamics of international music collaboration.
