Durban — Seven months after committing a house robbery in Avoca, a man has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Durban Magistrate’s Court on September 27.
In February, Marshall Security’s armed response officers apprehended Sandile Langeni for his involvement in the robbery.
Marshall Security’s managing director Tyron Powell said that following a thorough investigation by Greenwood Park SAPS Detectives and countless court dates over the course of seven months Langeni was sentenced and found unfit to possess a firearm after pleading guilty.
Powell said that this successful conviction highlights the collaboration between Marshall Security and the Greenwood Park SAPS working endlessly together to make communities safe.
“We commend Detective Sergeant JN Mhlongo for her dedication and effort in ensuring justice for the victims involved,” he said.
Powell also commended the victim for attending the court cases to ensure justice is served.
“Marshall Security is dedicated to keeping communities safe by working closely with law enforcement to deliver justice.”
It is alleged that on February 17, at approximately 8.15 AM, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted via panic alarm from a client’s home on Avoca Road in the Avoca area.
“The homeowner quickly informed our control room that an intruder had entered their property, attacked them, stolen their phone, and escaped on foot,” Powell said at the time of the incident.
While responding to the scene one of Marshall Security’s armed response officers spotted the suspect walking on Avoca Road.
“As soon as the suspect spotted our armed response officer he attempted to flee on foot but after a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended.
“Upon searching the suspect, the cellphone taken in the robbery was found in his possession,” Powell said.
