COLIN Bosman seems to have his facts a little confused in his letter ‘Path forward for Gaza and Israel’ in yesterday’s Cape Times.
1) A state governed by Israel under a global watching brief may even work. If governed by Palestinians, there is never an assurance of peace - as has been proven time and again. There needs to be a ruthless control of terrorist access.
2) Palestine’s only objective is the total annihilations of Israel - a fact verbalised openly, publicly and repeatedly by various Palestinian leaders.
3) Self determination would lead to open season for terrorist infiltration.
4) Radical fringe groups are ready and don’t have a second thought about killing Palestinians in their efforts to attack Israel.
5) The general populations of both Israel and Palestine are quite relaxed about living and working together. That certainly is not an issue.
But, “the ashes of 47 000 Palestinians” needs to be verified - it’s a number used to gain world sympathy … my opinion.
A large number of the Palestinians killed in this conflict are women and children who were used as cannon fodder and shields for Hamas to hide behind.
A civilised mind can’t understand that anyone can stoop to this level - even in a war. It is a cowardly, cruel and unconscionable action.
Hamas must move out of the Middle Ages - not with rockets and guns but with word and deed!
It’s not so much the Knesset that needs to be cleaned up (although admittedly, there are some that must go) but the very heart of Palestinian terrorism that must be removed from its own body!
